IN2FROCC launches the #Objectofthemonth:
Museums and archives contain many unseen objects that tell stories and raise issues that aren’t found in texts. These objects also act as direct links to other times and cultures. They are especially important for children’s clothes, where there have been few studies and many collections are not easily available.
IN2FROCC will be running a series of monthly online demonstrations of how to examine and interrogate archival pieces. We will explore how to use them to open up discussions and spark research. We will reflect on what these pieces say about our assumptions around childhood. We will test methodologies for observing, analysing and interpreting children’s clothes in context. We will reflect on what pieces from other times and places can tell us about childhoods today.
This online series #objectofthemonth is aimed at adult researchers or educators for the methodology; for the content, anyone who is curious about how children live or have lived in different cultures
We want network members to reply, to suggest their answers to the questions posed, to share ideas and comparisons, and to propose their own objects for future months.
Join us on 1 and 15th July on Facebook for the first #objectofthemonth presen
On 15th July, an interactive session will be held on Facebook to invite members of the network to contribute to the analysis of this first “Object of the month”
Looking forward to meeting you all there, and to receiving all your contributions!
